PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk (WIKA) is one of the construction companies in Indonesia. From the result of the nationalization of the Dutch company, Naamloze Vennotschap Technische Handel Maatschappij en Bouwbedijf Vis en Co or Vis en Co. NV, based on Government Regulation No. 2 of 1960 and the Decree of the Minister of Public Works and Power (PUTL) No. 5 dated March 11, 1960, WIKA was born with the name of the State Building Company Widjaja Karja.
Started as a sub-contractor, in the late 1960s WIKA developed into a network installation contractor electrical low voltage, medium, and high. At the beginning of 1970, WIKA expand its business into a civilian contractor and residential buildings.
The company entered a new phase on December 20, 1972. Through the Act No. 110, Notary Djojo Muljadi, the company changed its status into a Limited Liability Company Wijaya Karya (Persero).
WIKA always make a breakthrough. Evolved into an integrated infrastructure company through the development of a number of subsidiaries. Among WIKA Beton, WIKA Intrade and WIKA Realty.
WIKA growth as a powerful integrated infrastructure company has gained the recognition of the various parties. The Company’s success in implementing the IPO (initial public offering / IPO) of 35% to the public on October 29, 2007, in Indonesia Stock Exchange. After the IPO, the Government of the Republic of Indonesia holds 68.4%, while the rest is owned by the public, including employees, through the Management Stock Ownership Program (MSOP), Employee Stock Allocation (ESA), and the Employee / Management Stock Option (E / MSOP).
Acquisition of fresh funds from the IPO are used to support growth and innovation carried out by WIKA. WIKA becomes stronger position, at which time the world economic crisis started to show its effects in the country. Strong capital structure strongly supports WIKA in expanding its operations overseas and continue to develop the Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC), as well as invest in and develop a number of infrastructure projects, particularly projects into government programs related to the State Budget (APBN) and Budget (APBD).
WIKA currently has six Strategic Business Unit (SBU), which includes the construction (civil construction and construction Building), Mechanical and electrical, print Pre Concrete Industry, Real Estate and Other Industries that the future will be increasingly integrated into the company Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC) and Investment.
